When Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel founded their fragrance brand in March 2010, they did so with a clear mission: to create citrus-focused scents that combine the lightness of cologne with the lasting power of perfume. The resulting cologne absolue formula proved so successful, they’ve opened a third boutique. Just like its predecessors in Nolita and Paris, this location features exposed-brick walls, industrial furniture and an engraving station to re-create the feeling of an artisan’s studio, as well as Atelier Cologne’s signature cerulean doorway, modeled after the color of the tarps that cover out-of-use gondolas in Cervasel’s native Venice. Pull up a chair at one of the brushed-metal tables and have a staffer walk you through the collection, featuring the saffron-tinged Gold Leather (100ml $195, 200ml $295), the zesty Orange Sanguine (30ml $60, 100ml $95, 200ml $155) and Rose Anonyme (30ml $75, 100ml $130, 200ml $195), which gives its namesake bloom a warm, spicy veil. Most of the fragrances are available as vegetable-wax candles ($50–$65) and luxurious hand-milled soaps ($18). You can also have a leather travel case ($25–$40, complimentary with the purchase of a 200ml bottle) that fits a 30-milliliter purse spray personalized for free on-site with a name, initials or special message.
