For folks who dig the classic, casual look of American Eagle, you can now grab the chain’s affordable threads at a huge new location. The U.S. clothing brand has opened its second NYC flagship store smack dab in the middle of Soho’s main thoroughfare. The three-level space is half the size of a football field and a bit more grown-up than AE’s original Times Square flagship, boasting a minimal design aesthetic with dark wood displays, white brick walls and industrial lighting. Downstairs you’ll find Aerie, the brand’s intimates line, where gals can pick up striped and polka-dot boy briefs (five for $25) or plaid flannel pajama pants ($30). In addition to wardrobe staples for men (cotton V-neck sweaters, $40) and women (wool-blend, fur-collared peacoats; $130), the main floor stocks accessories like reversible beanies ($20) and aviator-shaped sunglasses ($16). Upstairs is the impressive men’s denim collection, an area featuring shelves stacked high with jeans in all manner of styles, washes and sizes, including gray-wash slim jeans ($50) and distressed boot-cut low-rises ($50). Women’s denim doesn’t get quite the same treatment, but there are still plenty of options, from dark-wash jeggings ($30) to sun-faded flares ($50).
