New York designer Alexander Berardi has attracted the attention of fashion insiders, socialites and Hollywood starlets (Emma Stone, Kourtney Kardashian and Lauren Conrad among them) with his clean, masterful designs that blend polished ladylike forms and collegiate New England style with a dash of red-carpet glamour. The 25-year-old’s first store (which he describes as “a girl’s dressing room at her beach house”) showcases demure day and evening wear ($185–$2,095), accessories ($125–$950) and made-to-order gowns ($1,500–$7,500) from his runway shows. Modern separates include crisp wool twill blazers with ultrasoft suede lapels ($565), sequined tank dresses ($595), varsity-letter-emblazoned knits ($325), diaphanous silk chiffon paisley-print dresses ($425) and cozy patch-sleeve cardigans ($395).
