Move over, Manolo: There’s a new sky-high stiletto temple for fashionistas to pray at, courtesy of footwear designer Alejandro Ingelmo. The Cuban-born, fourth-generation shoemaker previously sold his flashy metallic sneakers and strappy heels at upscale stores like Jeffrey New York and Bergdorf Goodman; with the opening of his first-ever boutique, made to resemble a vintage cobbler shop, his full line of men’s and women’s shoes ($395–$1,400) take center stage. “I was brought up to respect my heritage, so I really embrace it and what that means,” says Ingelmo, who adorned the store’s walls with black-and-white photos of his grandfather’s warehouse in Havana. Slip your tootsies into buckle-adorned wedge boots ($998), bondage-inspired suede booties with crisscrossing leather straps ($795) or eternal champagne-hued platform pumps ($450). Guys can add flair to their feet with a pair of fire-engine-red sneakers with black topstitching ($325) or sleek black high tops ($375).
