Former makeup artist Shellyann Bainlardi has been getting eyelash extensions for the past five years, but was dismayed at the disparity of options available in NYC: Either you’d pay a premium at a high-end spa or worry about hygiene at a more affordable hole-in-the-wall. To bridge the gap, the Gramercy resident opens this lash and wax salon, specializing in the application of individual faux- and real-mink strands. Once you arrive in the mini-chandelier–bedecked reception area, peruse the various eyelash styles featured on the illustrated menu created by fashion artist Alvaro (alvaroartz.com). Whether you opt for a natural ($150–$200) or glamorous ($175–$225) look, expect to spend about an hour lying on one of the seven beds having each strand glued to your natural lashes with medical-grade adhesive. A full set lasts up to eight weeks, but you can combat natural shedding with touch-ups after one ($55–$70), two ($70–$90) or three weeks ($110–$150). Two private rooms are dedicated to waxing services, which cover common spots such as Brazilian bikini (men $80, women $65) and upper lip ($15), as well as more surprising areas including nipples ($15) and cheeks (men $25, women $20). There’s also a reclining barber chair in the open space for eyebrow threading ($35), tweezing ($35) and waxing ($35), plus permanent makeup applications ($250–$600) that last upwards of three years. On your way out, pick up RapidLash eyelash enhancing serum ($50), iLashCare mascara for extensions ($20), Nest Fragrances scented candles ($14–$58) and accessories ($30–$120) from Project Runway winner Anya Ayoung-Chee.
