When Nadine Ramos opened her first NYC salon in 2000, it had just four chairs and a small clientele. As a pioneer of the coveted frizz-fighting keratin treatment, her popularity outgrew the tiny spot. Moving to this larger, eight-chair salon allows Ramos to offer more services, including makeup applications ($75). Clients can still stop by for Ramos’s signature keratin treatment ($350–$500), or opt for the slightly milder formaldehyde-free version ($250) designed to keep strands in check for eight to twelve weeks. You can also get cuts for men ($50) and women ($50–$75), as well as an array of coloring services ($75–$350) using both traditional dyes and gentler ammonia-free varieties. As a bonus, every treatment includes gratis five-minute hand and scalp massages, and a complimentary tea, coffee or water.
