After working together at the now-closed Peter Coppola Salon (Oscar Blandi and John Barrett are also alums), owners Demetris Potamianos and Savita Lakeram opened this organic salon in 2010. Located on the ground level of a posh brownstone, the intimate space reflects Potamianos’s native Greek island Aegina with white marble countertops and leather chairs at each of the eight cutting stations, a seaside mural of a woman’s long flowing locks painted on the back wall by makeup artist Diego Nobelasco, and a jazzy international soundtrack setting the mood. The house line of all-natural haircare products, which contain botanical extracts imported from Greece, are exclusively used in services such as cuts (women $150, with Potamianos or Lakeram $250; men $75, with Potamianos or Lakeram $95), blowouts ($65–$85) and color (single-process $125, half head $200, full head $350). Complete your new polished look with waxing ($45–$75), makeup application ($125–$150), and manicures ($25) and pedicures ($65) using non-toxic Karma Organic soy polishes. Before you head out, pick up items from the DS Organic Haircare label, including Santorini Rebuilding olive-oil conditioners, Greek Goddess Curls keratin-infused lotions and Mykonos Magic Touch pomade ($26 each).
