After 23 years of making some of Harlem’s best sweet-potato pie and apple cobbler, the owners of Wimp’s Southern Bakery are expanding their concept with Wimp’s Sky Café and Martini Bar. Located above the bakery, with a balcony overlooking 125th Street, the restaurant has Art Deco–inspired furniture, black-tile floors and a stage for live music. Entrées are categorized “from the land” (crispy fried chicken), “from the sea” (catfish with mango salsa) and “from the earth” (vegetarian “chicken”). Fans of the bakery can have their dessert and drink it, too: The cocktail list includes a key-lime-pie martini with graham-cracker-crust rim.
