Time Out says

The story of the 79th Street Boat Basin goes back to 1937, when construction first began in order to provide boaters a place to dock during the summer months. Crooner Frank Sinatra has docked here, as has 'The Godfather' author Mario Puzo and Mad Magazine journalist Dick DeBartolo.

Over the years the Boat Basin has passed through various management, at times flourishing and at others falling into disrepair, but New Yorkers' love of the site has kept it alive. And thank the heavens it did! Nowadays, from March to October, you can visit the characterful Boat Basin Cafe, which resides in the  Guastavino-tiled rotunda and overlooks the Hudson, offering priceless views of the sun setting behind New Jersey.

Chef Michael DeGeorgio has revamped the menu, which features fresh seafood dishes, contemporary American cuisine (burgers, dogs and gourmet sandwiches) and pizza. There's also a dedicated kids' menu, making the Boat Basin Cafe a perfect spot for all the family.
