Summer is wistfully fleeting, a fact that propels beachgoers to make the most of those sun-drenched months. Amy Morris and Anna Polonsky seem to be operating with that sentiment in mind—the MP Shift branding-studio duo has partnered with Rockaway Taco founder David Selig for this season-long Latin American pop-up in the former taco-shack space, with a rotating cast of chefs showcasing recipes from their respective heritages through September. "We chose young, contemporary chefs and asked them to riff on Latin bites they grew up with by the beach," says Polonsky. Chefs have anywhere from a week to more than a month to show off their plates: Leyla and Ximena Yrala and Carlos Varella, the team behind Peruvian rotisserie Chicks to Go, are taking over through mid-June with crispy pork sandwiches, quinoa burgers and virgin caipirinhas, followed by Navy's Camille Becerra, Cómodo cohorts Felipe Donnelly and Carolina Santos-Neves, and El Rey teammates Gerardo Gonzalez and Nick Morgenstern. Paleta maven Fany Gerson of La Newyorkina will dole out frozen treats all summer long, until the pop-up shutters on September 7.
