Based on Nevins Street in Brooklyn, Taiki is a sushi spot that goes big on traditional Japanese fare. There's an extensive menu of sushi, sashimi and rolls, as well as otanoshimi plates (translation – ‘looking forward to’ plates) and a variety of soups, salads, small dishes and sides. The dessert menu is small but contains Japanese favourite tamago brûlée, with homemade yuzu sorbet and a choice of either sake or plum wine.
As for the interior, the space is clean and contemporary, styled with brick walls, delicate plants and wooden features. But, while the seating and decor is pared-back, Taiki does not seem cold or unfriendly – instead, the vibe is intimate enough to bring your close friends for a relaxed evening of booze and what looks like top-notch Japanese food.
