In case you missed it the first time, the sign tells you what you should order. Tempting traditional antojitos (appetizers), such as sopes de huitlacoche (corn tortillas topped with black corn fungus) and Oaxacan chicken-and-chili tamales, aren’t always available, and the nachos were smothered in a Velveeta-like cheese. Still, there are huge French doors that open onto Second Avenue, a colorful interior and tacos served the real way—soft corn tortillas stuffed with the classics and smothered with salsa fresca. Anyone who enjoys gorging from Mexican street-vendor carts will appreciate both the tacos al pastor (marinated pork and pineapple) and the South-of-the-Border beers. Repeat after me.
