This particular rinconcito (“little corner”) compensates for its humble decor and short staffing with a remarkable range of entrées sure to thrill any starch addict. Potatoes make appearances in all forms, and some dishes, such as the saltado (chicken or beef marinated in soy sauce with onions and tomatoes), are served with generous portions of both fries and white rice. Corn also plays a starring role, in the popular chicha morada drink (purple corn juice) and in dishes such as the not-to-be-missed tamale appetizer—a comforting heap of juicy meats smothered in steaming corn masa.
