Revival does its best to pull in the locals with wine tastings, live jazz, poetry readings and DJ nights. But they should be working on the food instead. The menu’s description, “French-American cuisine infused with Caribbean, Creole and Soul,” might explain scattershot offerings such as “corn bread mushroom” (an appetizer combining diced mushrooms, onions, garlic, thyme, tomatoes and chickpeas with corn bread, cheese and lemon-butter sauce) and gospel pasta soup (a vegetarian tomato-based soup). One discernable pattern is a fondness for cream, which makes its way into the sautéed shrimp and the artichoke-and-mushroom risotto.
