This sceney designer restaurant inside a former bakery brings a touch of the Meatpacking District to Nolita. Moodily lit and industrially chic, its two conjoined spaces showcase a sleek mix of concrete, exposed brick and wood paneling. The mastermind behind Public’s globally inspired cuisine is British-trained Brad Farmerie, whose travels have left a cosmopolitan mark on his culinary concoctions. Reflecting pan-Pacific, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian influences, the clipboard menu offers creative dishes like grilled kangaroo on a coriander falafel; snail and oxtail ravioli; and pan-seared Tasmanian sea trout, all poetically presented and paired with unique wines.
