You could easily miss this subterranean spot; the glass door is marked with two small letters representing an old Italian term for “post office.” The candlelit interior is romantic—though you’ll probably have to share one of six communal wood tables with other couples. Chef Stefano Baldantoni (D.O.C. Wine Bar) offers a little bit of everything, at prices that seem high for the neighborhood. But the dishes, many of which are available in half portions, are terrific. We enjoyed breaded sweet scallops atop a fennel-and-mixed-green salad and caramella, a candy-wrapper–shaped pasta stuffed with venison ragù. The all-Italian wine list, organized by price from $26 to $130, is rotated almost monthly.
