Culinary surprises usually abound at a potluck, but rarely are they as unpleasant as the ones we encountered at this dingy Pan-Asian cubbyhole. Wan strands of mango topped an eye-wateringly vinegary grilled shrimp salad, and mealy tuna and salmon plagued our Spicy Girl sushi rolls. If you’re looking for a sweet after-dinner pick-me-up, stick with the free glass of syrupy, Welch’s-esque white wine (complimentary for diners who spend more than $15): Ice cream—fried, covered in a rice cake or straight up—was the only dessert on offer.
