Although a large golden Hindu symbol of inner peace and meditation hangs from the ceiling, the experience is anything but restful and reflective. Several menu choices were sold out by 7pm, and what remained sounded interesting but had little zing: Popcorn crayfish (marinated, fried and accompanied by a cucumber-yogurt sauce) was reminiscent of buffalo wings. Finally, the sound system abruptly flipped from soothing sitar to full-blast Beyoncé, transforming the sumptuously appointed room into a hip-hop recording studio.
