More hot openings: New restaurants in New York City

The season's crop of new restaurants features a cast of big-name chefs, like Ken Oringer, Michael White and Michel Richard, all debuting new spots in NYC before the year's end. Here are 17 new restaurants and stores—including a Barcelona-style tapas bar, a high-profile hotel restaurant and a 15,000-square-foot food bazaar—to put on your to-eat list for fall.

Enduro
Cheesecake titan Alan Rosen salutes his grandfather’s 1920s dinette with this midtown grill, featuring thoroughly modern chef Nathan Huntington (a protégé of Laurent Gras at Chicago’s heralded L2O). 919 Third Ave at 56th St (212-935-6800). Late August.

Malt n Mash
Globe-trotting chef Nahed Ahmed (El Bulli, French Laundry) will go New Age American with a menu split into raw, shared, sea and land categories. 55 Gansevoort St between Ninth Ave and Washington St (646-561-3931). Late August.

La Cenita
Gun for hire Akhtar Nawab (Craft, La Esquina) lands at this 250-seat, graffiti-decorated cantina in the former Abe & Arthur’s space. 409 W 14th St between Ninth and Tenth Aves (646-289-3930). Early September.

Pizza Vinoteca
Stephen Asprinio (Nobu) fell short of being Top Chef’s O.G. victor (that would be the Marrow’s Harold Dieterle), but he’ll try for another win with this 40-seat wood-fired pizza parlor. 32 Water St between Broad and Pearl Sts (no phone yet). Early September.

Norman’s Cay
The crew behind Nantucket-inspired Grey Lady will tread more tropical waters for this Caribbean-themed joint. 4 Orchard St between Broome and Grand Sts (646-481-1229, normanscaynyc.com). Mid-September.

Taquitoria
Grab taquitos (rolled tacos) at this Mexican spot from sommelier-turned restaurateur Matthew Conway (Restaurant Marc Forgione). 168 Ludlow St between E Houston and Stanton Sts (212-780-0121, taquitoria.com). Mid-September.

Botequim
Jo-Ann Makovitzky and Marco Moreira (Tocqueville) install a Brazilian restaurant below their American brasserie the Fourth, opened in May. 132 Fourth Ave at 13th St (212-432-1324). Late September.

Peck’s Specialty Foods
Theo Peck—the Blue Hill at Stone Barns alum behind cook-off series the Food Experiments—will resurrect his great-grandfather’s deli recipes, with updated Jewish classics. 455A Myrtle Ave between Washington and Waverly Aves, Clinton Hill, Brooklyn (no phone yet). Late September.

Kingside
Marc Murphy ventures into the world of hotel dining. The 140-seat bistro will offer New American small plates. Viceroy New York, 120 W 57th St between Sixth and Seventh Aves (212-707-8000). Early October.

Toro New York
Boston talents Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette will bring their acclaimed Barcelona-style tapas spot to Gotham. 85 Tenth Ave at 15th St (toro-restaurant.com). Early October.

Gotham West Market
The 15,000-square-foot bazaar packs in name-brand talent at its stalls: Ivan Orkin (Ivan Ramen), Seamus Mullen (Tertulia) and Christian Pappanicholas (the Cannibal). 600 Eleventh Ave between 44th and 45th Sts (gothamwestmarket.com). Mid-October.

The Writing Room
Literati shed tears when the venerated Elaine's shut its doors in 2011, but the team behind Parlor Steakhouse is reopening the space. 1703 Second Ave between 88th and 89th Sts (no phone yet). Mid-October.

The Peacock
Jason Hicks and Yves Jadot (Jones Wood Foundry) transform a pair of Upper East Side townhouses into a British restaurant. 24 E 39th St between Madison and Park Aves (thepeacocknyc.com). Late October.

Ristorante Morini
Empire builder Michael White has been on an expansion tear as of late. His third New York venture of the year is a higher-end spin-off of Osteria Morini. 1167 Madison Ave at 85th St (no phone yet). Late October.

Villard Michel Richard

China Blue Cafe
Cafe China’s Xian Zhang and Yiming Wang turn their attention from Szechuan to Shanghai. 451 Washington St at Watts St (212-966-4900). Mid-November.
