MOgridder’s BBQ (CLOSED)

On the lot of the Hunts Point Auto Sales & Service Station, surrounded by junked car yards and auto parts stores, Mo Gridder's BBQ operates out of a red Wells Cargo trailer that sports a serious-looking smoker on its open back half. If you're here for auto issues, get the oil change and ribs special for $35. Otherwise, park yourself at a picnic table for the sauce-shellacked ribs and barbecue chicken that's nicely charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. Sandwiches (the chopped pork is well-smoked, if somewhat dry) come on white-bread buns with a pickle, while platters are dished out atop flavorful barbecued rice. Sides like potato salad and collard greens are less stellar, but decent enough. There's no dessert, but—in the grand auto shop tradition—donuts are free for the taking.
