A new kid on the Murray Hill block joins the fast-casual fray by spotlighting lettuce wraps. While Local Leaf serves breakfast bowls, seasonal soups and lettuce platters made with locally sourced produce and protein, the restaurant’s bread and butter is the “perfectly portable” Swiss chard wrap. The verdant sammies include signature combos like West Coast (wild grains, seitan al pastor, black-bean falafel, tortilla crumble, Tabasco-lime dressing) or can be customized with at-the-ready with ingredients like chipotle butternut squash and pork belly. The health-conscious spot was founded by the diverse quartet of hospitality manager Jon Mizrach, chef Rick Bender (the Modern, Jean-Georges), food entrepreneur Solomon Choi and business manager Shaun Goodman.
