Nestled beneath the elevated 7 train tracks in Woodside, Queens, this colorful café executes elegant, international takes on Mexican fare. In the morning, chef-owner Viko Ortega dispenses fluffy bourbon-vanilla French toast, and huevos rancheros heaped with rich refried beans. Come afternoon, try a crisp grilled pizza topped with Oaxaca cheese, avocado and carnitas; spicy carne enchilada tortas served on homemade rolls; or fresh-masa quesadillas, layered with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and zippy salsa. There’s nary a miss, but don’t overdo it: Dessert is divine, namely the fresh fruit tarts and chewy chocolate-chip cookies.
