As bars go, the food at Julep is a step above. As restaurants go, the grub is a step down. Your enjoyment will depend on whether you wanted to drink or dine when you walked in. The divey watering hole’s motto is “Beer, barbecue and blues,” and that about sums it up. The pulled-pork sandwich is a sauce-heavy monstrosity that won’t rival those at other barbecue joints, but late at night, that baby tastes fine. Other dishes, like mac and cheese and Cajun chicken, were fair to middling.
