Close your eyes and imagine an attractive Tuscan restaurant with sophisticated service and impeccable food. That’s Il Cantinori. For appetizers, the luganega con broccoletti (grilled thin Italian sausage with sautéed broccoli rabe) is spicy and done to perfection, and the vongole con pesto (clams steamed in white wine, tomatoes and, yes, pesto) has an unusual but memorable flavor. If you have a taste for veal but happen to miss the special of eye-crossingly succulent, thick and juicy carré di vitello con puree piselli (crown roast of veal with mashed potatoes and peas), try the scaloppine al balsamico. Phenomenal as the dishes are, they pale in comparison with the desserts: The warm chocolate cake will satisfy the pickiest connoisseur.
