This midtown tavern waters down the British pub-and-grub experience for the neighborhood’s after-work suits. The namesake pattern adorns the curtains, chairs and servers’ ties, adding flair to an otherwise drab room. Like the obvious decor, the food breaks little ground, with boring bites like cloying ginger-soy chicken wings and bland grilled pork medallions in a molasses-heavy port sauce. A selection of rotating pints-of-the-day ($5 until 7pm) and a passable steak sandwich, served on a garlic-and-butter-slathered baguette with thick fries, just barely break through the mediocrity.
