This colourful Queens eatery serves traditional Peruvian cuisine with a modern twist. Owned by chef Kevin Lenis (previously of Barcelona’s three-star Michelin restaurant ‘Sant Pau’) the contemporary dishes include salads, ceviche, chaufa. Thirsty? A mix of wine, beer and cocktails are on offer, including the much-lusted-after Peruvian classic, the Pisco Sour. There are also soft drinks available – and happy hour runs every day from 5pm until 8pm.
The interior is just as vibrant as the plating, thanks to a mix of neon lights, leafy hanging plants, painted murals and patterned soft furnishings. Cantina 33 also hosts live music performances.
