Though this Slope small-plates joint has looks—an artfully rustic interior, with a rough-hewn reclaimed-wood bar and copper light fixtures—the food wasn’t equally praiseworthy. A starter of plump white-wine–poached shrimp was mismatched with bland mashed avocado, while a bowl of seafood, chicken and shrimp paella was oversalted. What with the global vino and beer list, including a bright, crisp Saison Dupont, and successful simple fare including “old world” meatballs and a thick tomato sauce, the place might fare better as a bar.
