This West Village cafe serves the sort of classic bistro fare you might find anywhere in Paris. Start with rich French onion soup with gruyere ($10), country-style pâté ($14) or escargots baked in green garlic butter ($16). The list of entrees includes several classic French dishes, such as moules mariniere steamed with white wine, garlic and herbs ($24), trout amondine with brown butter, toasted almonds and parsley ($28) and duck with roasted apples, stone fruit and cider sauce($30). And what meal would be complete without dessert? Order a cappuccino and some amaretto bread pudding, creme brulee or profiteroles (each $10) to cap off your night. Cafe Loup also has a full bar featuring beer, wine and spirits available. Visit the cafe on Sundays to hear live jazz music during both brunch and dinner service.
