This spacious spot, tucked between the library and Bryant Park, features floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the leafy oasis, and a large-scale Hunt Slonem bird mural that soars high above leaf-print banquettes. The menu balances light and heavy: The salad of sliced Anjou pears, walnuts and blue cheese is a refreshing start. But entrées can be massive. Two thick, well-marbled pork chops come with applesauce and a healthy jumble of fried plantains; wild-mushroom-stuffed chicken breast is paired with garlicky whipped potatoes. After finishing the molten Valrhona chocolate cake, you may well need a walk in the park.
