Bridge Cafe (CLOSED)

This 1794 building did time as a “disorderly house” long ago, and its romantic tin-ceilinged dining room can still inspire some old-fashioned hanky-panky. Diners at the Financial District hideaway, lurking in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, can feast on a Maytag blue-cheese soufflé sweetened with grape syrup, or crisp-skinned fried chicken with creamy goat-cheese grits. There’s no better time to visit than Monday through Wednesday nights, when the all-American wine list is 30% off. Talk about a cheap date.
