The kitchen at this Flatiron restaurant is headed up by James Corona, a chef with previous at the much-lauded Bouley. Here he’s showcasing modern-Italian dishes that nod to Roman traditions, with imported Italian ingredients alongside high-quality local produce.
The venue was given an aesthetic overhaul back in spring of last year. It looks slick, with indigo blue leather banquettes, Italian marble countertops, industrial-chic lighting, and a custom piece of artwork by Italian artist Flavio Bragaloni.
The menu ranges from antipasti of prosciutto and burrata, and grilled Mediterranean octopus with ’nduja potatoes and romesco, to fusilli alla Norcina, pappardelle al ragú di Agnello and racks of lamb served with garlic chicory and fava beans.
A great-looking wine list comprises all-Italian options, with the 2004 Damilano Lecinquevigne barolo standing out. Bring your credit card for that one though.
