Serial restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow delivers another glitzy eatery with this Spanish spot inside the Eventi hotel. Demonic red walls and a chilly, cacophonous dining room are an unfortunate mismatch for chef Yuhi Fujinaga’s soulful Basque-inspired menu. Tapas-style pintxos—sweet garlic shrimp with pickled guindilla and dry espelette pepper, plus beautifully smoky imported piquillos—deploy Iberian ingredients to expert effect. And while generous and equally shareable entrées are less consistent, the salt-cured suckling pig, with crisp skin and potato cooked like risotto, is a succulent triumph. But like everything else here, it loses something served in such a jarring setting.
