Magnolia Bakery's iconic banana pudding is about to get a run for its money.
Baonanas, a banana pudding shop with a pretty large following in New Jersey, has just set up its first brick-and-mortar shop in New York City, smack-dab in the middle of the East Village at 93 East 7th Street.
This, however, isn't the first chance that New Yorkers have to devour the popular treat. In addition two its two locations in Jersey City, Baonanas has also operated a stall at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn.
There are plenty of options to choose from, including the OG (vanilla mousse with layers of softened vanilla wafers and fresh sliced bananas), ubenanas (purple yam mousse with bits of purple yam jam and layers of softened graham crackers and sliced fresh bananas) and lychee-rose (lychee-rose mousse with layers of vanilla wafers, fresh sliced strawberries and lychees).
We're happy to report that vegan sweet tooths can get their fix here as well. The vegan buko pandan is a pandan-coconut-cashew mousse pudding with layers of vegan graham crackers, banana slices and toasted coconut. Yum.
