The decorations include strings of Christmas lights, a rotating collection of paintings and a sparkly disco ball—which is why locals call this sushi joint–gallery “Disco Sushi.” Dependable basics include a ten-piece platter of tuna or yellowtail sashimi, served with a choice of white or brown rice. There are more than 20 rolls—including salmon, eel and soft-shell crab. Cooked dishes include teriyaki (variations of beef, chicken, scallops and shrimp) and big bowls of hot noodles, such as nabeyaki with chicken, egg and tempura shrimp. Get used to ogling the downtown-cool staff from afar; they’ve often got better things to do than pay attention to you.
