Regulars of the Amsterdam Café might not recognize the two-floor restaurant and lounge it has become. But they’ll be happy with what they see: The owners have given the dining room a makeover and added a more ambitious menu with dishes like Moroccan-spiced wild salmon, and an osso buco made with pork, served with polenta and braised vegetables. Downstairs is a slick lounge, which has a DJ booth, 20 plasma-screen TVs and a tapas menu that’s served until 2am on weekends. The Columbia student’s drink of choice: a shooter called Absolut Stress.
