Disney and Chef Roy Choi are throwing a Mickey & Friends(giving) this week by teaming up with pizzerias around the country, including Roberta's in Brooklyn.
Five pizzerias, including one here in NYC, created pies based on Disney characters and are offering them for on one day only: Saturday, November 21.
Chef Carlo Mirarchi of Roberta’s Pizza created a different pie for each of his Brooklyn locations: the Donald Duck (house-made spicy nduja sausage and bitter Castelfranco radicchio topped with smooth Taleggio cheese and lemon zest) in Bushwick and the Daisy Duck (a white pie with special salsa verde and thinly sliced potatoes) in Williamsburg.
While the Donald Duck pizza was inspired by the character's feisty and fiery spirit, the Daisy Duck plays off her sassy yet classy attitude. Each pizza is 14 inches with 8-10 slices each. You can pre-order them now at this link for $36 a piece.
"Being a part of the Friends(giving) campaign was a great opportunity to create a fun twist on one of my favorite holidays," Chef Mirarchi said. "I loved channeling my inner Donald Duck by creating a pizza with a bit of spice to embody his feisty personality."
Jon & Vinny's in L.A. have the Mickey Mouse pizza while Home Slice Pizza in Austin are making the Minnie Mouse. Philly's Pizzeria Beddia is serving up Goofy slices and Phoenix's Pizzeria Bianco is making Pluto pizzas.
Each pre-ordered pizza comes with a custom pizza box and Mickey & Friends(giving) stickers while supplies last.
"I am so excited to host this ultimate pizza party mash-up for fans and friends to share this Friendsgiving together," said Chef Roy Choi, who owns Kogi BBQ and Best Friend. "I named one of my restaurants Best Friend because I live for that feeling when you’re just hanging out having fun with your friends and nothing else in the world matters. I was able to team up with some of the best pizzerias in the U.S. to make some awesome recipes inspired by Mickey and his Friends, and now, fans too can experience them with each other this holiday."
