As the MTA officially transitions to the OMNY system and the much talked-about tap-to-pay technology, New Yorkers should find their way to the last-of-their-kind limited-edition MetroCards, a collaboration with Instagram and some of the most influential content creators on the platform.
Starting today through the end of the month, 12 different subway stations will be dispensing the limited-edition passes by New York Nico, Subway Takes and Overheard New York.
"This collaboration is especially exciting because it features creators who have built their reputations on Instagram through unique, city-inspired content," reads an official press release. "They've transformed the MetroCards we all know and use into a canvas for their creative expression—truly a fitting tribute to both the city and the platform."
Keep in mind that not all vending machines at participating stations will be carrying all three of the creators' designs. According to an Instagram post by New York Nico, each machine is actually "dedicated to one collaborator," so you're going to have to ask on-site MTA employees about the specific MetroCard that you might be interested in.
We're sure these will become instant collector's items, so make sure to snag one ASAP!
