What’s new with Time Out New York

The city is finally basking in the full glory of late spring. It’s my favorite time of year, and it’s the ideal moment for reinvention. That's why we've been doing some serious spring cleaning at Time Out New York. For months now, we’ve been talking to you (we even had some of our readers come to our Times Square office for a pizza party) to discover what you love about our website and magazine—and what else you’re seeking. We want Time Out New York to be your one-stop destination to plot your social calendar, whether you follow us online or plan your weekend with the magazine when it comes out on Wednesday mornings. (Find out where to pick up a free copy near you right here.)

So, we made moves. In today's magazine, you'll find a new opening section, City Life, bringing you more of what the Big Apple is buzzing about right now. In each issue, My New York explores a different New Yorker’s pocket of our metropolis, and A Perfect Day in... sketches out an ideal itinerary in a beloved nabe. We’re renewing our commitment to cover the entire city, along with the diverse, incredible people who make it wonderful.

In our features and editorial sections, we’ll continue to reveal the most exciting events, shows, talks, movies, eats, art exhibits and beyond, but with more captivating photos and personal opinions from our editors. You’ll also see recommendations from our Time Out Tastemakers, a group of 30 real New Yorkers who are helping us to uncover the best bits of NYC we may have missed. (Our editors are amazing, but even they can’t be everywhere at once.) And don’t worry, we know you love free and affordable things to do—we’re on it!

A lot more excitement is coming in 2018! Time Out Market New York will open later this year at 55 Water Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn, with 20 eateries from New York City’s top chefs, three hopping bars, an awesome stage to showcase performers we love and a slick exhibition space—oh, and a gorgeous rooftop overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge. We’ll celebrate Time Out’s 50th anniversary with a special issue on September 26 and plenty of fun events. If you want to revel with us a little sooner, keep an eye out for our Time Out Sunset Sail Happy Hour boat parties with Hornblower or start salivating for our Battle of the Burger, all happening this summer.

We hope our face-lift gives your week a boost (don’t let the MTA get you down!) and that Time Out New York helps you make the most of every extraordinary day in NYC.

Make New York yours,

Jillian Anthony
