When your state is home to some of the best pizza in the world, it's no surprise that its residents are among the most pizza-obsessed in the region—and a new study by the online discount platform Wethrift ranking the U.S. states that love pizza the most only confirms this.

The website specifically analyzed the number of pizzerie per capita, Google search volume and average ratings to come up with a list that's obviously topped by our very own New York.

With a pizza obsession score of 83.15, our state ranks number one, followed by another pie powerhouse, Connecticut (obsession score: 78.05), Pennsylvania (74.50), Florida (72.98) and New Jersey (72.45).

When it comes to pizza in New York, there are plenty of different delicious choices to taste—from local institutions like Di Fara to consistent go-tos like Joe's Pizza and newer, more creative desitnations like Mama's Too. Feel free to use our list of best pizza places in New York as a culinary guide of sorts, perhaps an unofficial tour guide of the city's gastronomic scene?

Wethrift's research also involved the least pizza-obsessed states around (blasphemy!).

"You can’t deny the appeal of a good pizza slice—whether you prefer a thin crust, a thick one, or maybe even a deep dish," reads the study. "However, some states seem less enthusiastic about pizza."

Those (very odd) regions include Mississippi at number one, followed by Louisiana, Hawaii, Nebraska and Alaska.

What we take from it all? If you want really good pizza, come on over to New York.
