We went from mourning the loss of classic movie theaters to... shelling out over $200 to catch a film in a semi-secret cinema in Tribeca.

As first reported by the New York Post, Cannes Cinema, formerly a private theater run by luxe hotel Fouquet's New York in Tribeca, has been selling movie tickets to the general public since December 2024. The price? Up to $215, tax and gratuity not included.

According to the outlet, a $110 pass grants access to a movie and two drinks, while a $165 ticket includes the film and a prix-fixe dinner at the on-site French restaurant, Brasserie Fouquet's New York. Special events, such as the recently sold-out Oscar screening, cost $215. Every ticket also includes access to retro popcorn boxes and individual candy snacks. There is a bar on premise as well, though cocktails come at an additional charge.

Despite the steep price tag, the cinema—which had previously been bookable for private events only—seems to be the hottest ticket in town, with passes selling out pretty regularly on Resy when they drop two weeks before each Sunday night screening.

In case you're interested: in order to maintain the aura of exclusivity, the drops aren't really advertised beyond a subtle post on Fouquet's Instagram account, so you're going to want to monitor the platform to be thoroughly in the loop.

“People ask us all the time if they can book in advance and what our monthly calendar looks like,” Victoria Menechella Bello, Fouquet's New York's director of marketing said to The Post. “But we’re sticking to that two weeks out period to make it a bit more exciting and secretive. It sells out very, very quickly.”

The next iteration of the events will take place on Sunday, March 23, kicking off with a three-course pre-fixe menu at 6:30pm and an 8pm screening of A League of Their Own. You can book that experience right here.

Talk about a luxurious, only-in-NYC happening.
