Once again, we get to tell the world that we are, indeed, home to some of the best bars in North America.

The 50 Best brand, behind all sorts of world-spanning culinary lists, just unveiled its 51 to 100 ranking of best bars in North America, and nine separate New York destinations have made the coveted list.

Before we get to specific mentions, a bit about the methodology behind the effort: the list is determined by votes from the company's Academy of experts, which encompasses about 300 folks in the media space, bartenders, bar owners and cocktail connoisseurs. Each member casts seven votes based on their personal best bar experiences of the past 18 months, and the ranking is then formed.

This year's 51-100 rundown spans 23 destinations from all over North America. The United States leads the charge with 29 mentions and New York is the most represented city within those parameters. Woohoo!

At number 57 is The Dead Rabbit, the Water Street drinking hole that's been a steady presence on the annual ranking. Dante West Village follows at position 59 and The Long Island Bar on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill, a local diner turned watering hole serving top-notch martinis and frozen drinks, appears at number 64.

Other entries include Attaboy (number 66), a perennial local favorite that has truly come to define the city's speakeasy-ish bar genre; Bar Snack (number 85) in the Ukrainian Village; Shinji’s (number 90), the imaginative cocktail destination in the Flatiron District offering one of the largest selections of Japanese whiskey in NYC; The Portrait Bar (number 93), which, funnily enough, happens to serve the best hot dog in New York!; "immersive" cocktail bar Paradise Lost (number 95), serving plenty of rum-based concoctions; and Bar Contra (number 98) on Orchard Street, a revamp of the old Contra space.

Clearly, New Yorkers have plenty of choices when it comes to bars serving excellent cocktails.
