Yesterday, State Senator Andrew Gounardes announced on X that service on the R line will be suspended between the 36th Street and 95th Street stations in Brooklyn this weekend and next for structural maintenance.

Specifically, you can expect the trains not to run between 11:30pm on Friday and 5:30am on Monday both this weekend and the weekend of January 10 through 13.

The MTA will be offering free shuttle buses making R line stops between 36th Street and 95th to compensate for the temporary shutdowns.

The news comes after the MTA announced a four-month suspension of A train service in the Rockaways, starting this January.

In other (related) subway news: the MTA recently let everyone know that it is on track to implement another fare hike that will make a single ride on the city's trains and buses $3, compared to the current $2.90.

What can we say? The MTA likes to constantly keep us on our toes.
