Take this as an opportunity to take a winter trip with your friends—the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North will allow monthly ticket holders to bring up to two additional passengers with them for just $1 per person each way. They’ll also let monthly ticket holders travel anywhere at no additional cost, regardless of the stations printed on their tickets.

This deal runs each weekend from January 4 through the end of March, as first reported by Gothamist.

The “Winter Weekends” promotion happens to start alongside the kickoff of the new congestion pricing plan, which hits NYC on January 5.

In order to take advantage of it, you’ll need to have your valid monthly ticket with you. Then, for each additional passenger, you’ll need to buy a $1 Family Fare ticket in TrainTime or on board from the conductor without an extra charge.

Unfortunately, this promotion is not valid on Metro-North Port Jervis or Pascack Valley Line trains.

Don’t wait to grab your tickets! Here’s our list of the best winter getaways to give you some inspiration.
