The winner of the World's 50 Best Bars and celebrated whiskey watering hole, the Dead Rabbit, has temporarily shut down due to a fire on its Water Street block.
The cocktail bar tweeted on Sunday: "This morning a fire was reported on our block. We’re still getting details, but The Dead Rabbit received considerable fire and water damage and as a result will be closed until further notice. Fortunately no one has been hurt. We thank you for your understanding at this time."
According to NBC 4 New York, a fire broke out in bar’s kitchen ventilation system yesterday morning. This will be the first time the bar has shut down since it opened in 2013. Since then, it's topped our list of the best bars in NYC, and has been nominated for Time Out's Bar Awards. Here's hoping the Dead Rabbit comes back to life in no time.
