It's going to be a pup paw-ty at Meet the Breeds, the nation's largest canine extravaganza held in New York City this month. At the event, meet and play with more than 1,000 dogs while learning about responsible pet care.

All are invited to the event hosted by the American Kennel Club on the weekend of January 25-26, 2024 at the Javits Center in Manhattan. Tickets cost $35 for adults and $10 for kids (use promo code MEET for $5 off).

Expect to learn about 100 breeds of dogs and determine which might be the best type for your lifestyle, from Affenpinschers to Yorkshire Terriers and everything in between. You'll learn about each breed's country of origin, as well as historical purpose and function. Plus, get a chance to discover new breeds and talk to breed experts.

Other featured breeds include the fluffy Alaskan Malamute, the boopable Borzoi, the sporty Italian Greyhound, and the sleek Vizsla. Keep in mind that the dogs are not for sale or rescue at the event, but perhaps the event will inspire you to adopt your own furry friend, especially considering the event is all about responsible pet ownership.

Working dogs and sporting dogs will strut their stuff as they entertain the crowds with their physical prowess. Demonstrations will showcase the athleticism and work ethic of dogs in topics like search-and-rescue.

"We love bringing this event to New York City," AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo said in a press release. "There is no better event for dog lovers than AKC Meet the Breeds. This unique event brings dog experts together to share their knowledge and passion for dogs, breeds, and responsible dog ownership with dog lovers across the tri-state area."

In the kid's zone, kids can even test their agility to see how they stack up against canine competitors. Games and photo opps will abound for all ages.

While all humans are welcome at the event, pet dogs are not permitted to attend (other than service dogs, of course).
