You know what’s better than touring a museum? Partying in a museum.

This Friday, May 18, the American Museum of Natural History is hosting the latest edition of its One Step Beyond series, giving revelers the unique opportunity to sip on some drinks and twinkle their toes throughout the night inside one of New York’s most compelling spaces. The party will set up shop on the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Hall of the Universe from 9pm to 1am, and attendees will be given a set of headphones to participate in a silent disco. They can tune into one of three DJ sets, each featuring a different genre of music, and each MC will compete for the biggest crowd (as if watching a crowd participate in a silent disco weren't strange enough).

Partygoers will also have access to the Hayden Big Bang Theater, where they can check out a trippy presentation narrated by Liam Neeson. A ticket to this event does not, however, give one access to the entire museum, though this writer would love the opportunity to drunkenly cry in front of the Lucy skeleton while reflecting on the ethereal nature of existence. Admission goes for $26 if you purchase before May 16, $30 on May 16 and $35 on May 17. Some tickets may be available for $40 at the door, but if you're planning on attending, you're going to want to reserve your spot in advance.

Drinks are not included with the ticket, but a cash bar will be serving beer and wine throughout the night. You can find more information about the event and purchase tickets at the museum's website.
