L.A. based YouTuber and Internet royalty Trisha Paytas dreams of becoming a Broadway star are getting bigger: a slew of high-profile theater figures will officially join Paytas on stage on February 3 for her one-night-only musical theater celebration, Trisha Paytas’ Big Broadway Dream.
The high-profile guest list includes Broadway darling Sutton Foster, musical theater star Ben Platt, Rachel Zegler of West Side Story fame and Joy Woods, who stars in the 2024 Broadway revival of Gypsy opposite Audra McDonald.
Previously announced ensemble members include Morgan Bryant, Beau Harom and Lena Matthews, among others.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled,” Paytas said in a statement months ago. “Of all my dreams, this one is the biggest. I didn’t know how it would happen, but I always felt it would. I’m thankful. Grateful. Humbled. I can’t wait to perform with so many talented people on a Broadway stage. Making my Broadway debut is what I’m looking forward to most in 2025. I hope people will find inspiration that you truly can do anything you want in life. I’ve been told so many times this would never happen. And now it is! Hopefully it’s just the beginning of my New York adventure.”
Funnily enough, the concept for the show was born out of an April Fool’s Day joke of sorts, when Kobi Kassal, a producer on the upcoming Paytas one-night extravaganza, jokingly reported that the YouTuber was going to play Roxie Hart in Chicago. The public reacted excitedly, which led Kassal and producer partner George Strus to actually create a show for the celebrity.
Dreams really do come true.
