If you've ever had the pleasure of hanging out at The Rooftop at Pier 17, then you already know that the venue offers some pretty awesome views of the Brooklyn Bridge and downtown Manhattan.

Now, we're all going to get to enjoy that view for a little bit longer: Pier 17 just announced it's going to transform its rooftop into a year-round performance venue, complete with a custom-designed glass structure to protect concertgoers from the cold, starting in late 2025.

The new and improved rooftop will still host outdoor events and concerts during the summer, but it will now also offer its stage for large-scale events of up to 3,000 spectators during the colder months, mainly thanks to a retractable roof that will have floor-to-ceiling slidings and allow the space to be climate controlled. Also in the plans: a new VIP balcony level.

This upgrade is part of Seaport Entertainment Group's partnership with Live Nation, the same company that represents top artists like Mary J. Blige, Billy Joel, Justin Timberlake and others.

"We appreciate our partnership with Live Nation, which has been successful in helping us bring our vision to life," said Anton Nikodemus, CEO of Seaport Entertainment Group, in an official statement. "Our state-of-the-art space will deliver an unparalleled experience for both artists and guests, providing the quintessential New York City live music venue no matter the season."

Since 2018, The Rooftop at Pier 17 has played host to top-notch artists, including Billie Eilish, Tate McRae, 21 Savage, Lil Nas X and others. The new design will allow the arena to host approximately 25 more performances each year during the fall and winter months, when the space has traditionally been closed.

The staff has already lined up a slew of acts for the 2025 season, including heavy metal bands Trivium and Bullet for My Valentine (May 7); Australian punk band Amyl and The Sniffers (May 15); Reggae Fest Blaze (June 14) and more.
