New Yorkers react to the retirement of the iconic yellow and orange subway seats

Although most New Yorkers are sad, some others are excited about the high-tech changes coming to the underground subway system.

Yesterday, we told you all about the MTA's plans to start phasing out those iconic orange-and-yellow subway train cars in 2025, making room for a fleet of newer, more high-tech R211/R211S trains, as laid out in the agency's 2025/2029 capital plan, "The Future Rides with Us."

Needless to say, the news caused some consternation among New Yorkers used to riding the cars for the past 40 years. Although many social media users took to different platforms to mourn the underground loss, some others expressed excitement at the thought of any sort of upgrade to a transportation system that is clearly begging for it.
