We've been waiting for the Parisian department store to open—and it was certainly worth the wait.

New York just got a taste of Paris: Printemps, the French chain of high-end department stores that first debuted in Europe back in 1865, has officially opened its first-ever location in Manhattan at One Wall Street, a debut that's just as beautiful, luxurious and fashion-forward as you’d expect.

Spanning 55,000 square feet over two floors of the historic Art Deco building, the new Printemps blends Parisian elegance with New York’s vibrant energy, offering a curated selection of designer fashion, accessories and home décor—plus five food and beverage experiences that will basically force you to spend all day inside the shop.

“New York offers a dynamic mix of cultural diversity and global influence, making it the perfect location for our brand’s expansion and the introduction of our new concept,” said Jean-Marc Bellaiche, CEO of Printemps, in an official statement. “Printemps New York represents a completely fresh approach—it’s not a department store. We are redefining traditional concepts of retail and, as a result, it stands apart from any other retail concept in the world.”

There’s plenty to discover inside: a vibrant multi-colored marble “playroom” featuring casualwear, gifts and the all-day Café Jalu—named after Printemps’ founders Jules and Augustine Jaluzot. Also on site is the immersive sneaker room lined with LED screens for a dynamic shopping experience.

Upstairs, the second-floor salon showcases women’s ready-to-wear and accessories alongside the raw bar Salon Vert, which offers a scenic view overlooking Broadway.

The menswear section is called La Garçonnière, while "Printemps' evening, vintage clothing and high fine jewelry collections" are on display in the Boudoir, according to an official press release. The ladder section is specifically found in the department chain's beauty and spa area, the Salle de Bain.

And we can't forget the landmarked Red Room, where the store's shoe department is on display. Keep in mind that, while shopping, you might be distracted by the double windows, 33-foot-high ceilings, red ombré and gold mosaic walls created by renowned 20th century muralist Hildreth Meière.

Passerby may also notice two additional culinary concepts with their own dedicated entrances on Broadway: fine-dining destination Maison Passerelle and the wine shop.

The piece de resistance, as they say in France? The Red Room Bar—a 25-seat cocktail lounge tucked behind Maison Passerelle that serves cocktails, mocktails and small bites.

In a way, Printemps feels like a small Paris in downtown Manhattan.
